Day 14: Barnstable Rest Day
I’ve now completed section 1 of 6 according to the guide book I’ve been following, which means I’m a sixth of the way to John O’Groats.
Today has been a rest day, and I’ve spent most of it chilling in my hotel room. I’ve been a bit productive, researching my route and campsites for the next few weeks. I’ve had the television on in the background, where I’ve been watching some classic Coronation Street on ITV3. Other highlights included a news item on the town looking for a tour guide to do tours on Harry Styles, who is from said town, and they interviewed fans who came to the town because of him. Pathetic.

I did make a short trip into Barnstable to do some shopping. I bought some trainers, lightweight ones, as relying on my boots to get me through the evenings is failing, as they are always too damp and muddy. I also bought some walking poles, the first I’ve ever owned, to help me stabilise myself walking through the mud, of which I don’t think I’ve mentioned before.
Onwards to section 2 tomorrow, as I start heading across Exmoor, through the Somerset levels, Bristol, and Offa’s Dyke Path.

Danny, well done, you! Are you lonely at all?
