Days 85 & 86: Inverness Rest Days
A very uneventful couple of days resting in Inverness, where have barely done anything. I guess I’ve used the rest days for exactly what they are for.

Yesterday, I popped to a shopping park just outside of the city to get supplies that should hopefully last me until the end.
I spent the afternoon planning out my time on the John O’Groats Trail. This isn’t an official trail like the ones that have come before. At least not yet it isn’t anyway, as there’s still places where the trail isn’t way marked or completely accessible.
I do have a guidebook for it however, which is split into 14 sections. I’ll be doing it in 12 sections though. The 147 mile trail is split into stages based on accommodation options, this means that some days are a lot shorter than others. Take tomorrow for example, I’m walking less than 6 miles.
Today I got my laundry done, at the ridiculous price of £9, but I guess it needs to be done.
I spent the rest of the day in the city and the hostel, just wandering and relaxing. I did pop into Primark to buy a cheap towel. Where the sections of the John O’Groats Trail are not marked, there’s some fences with barbed wire that need to be crossed. Hopefully putting a towel on top before climbing over will save me getting hurt.
The city is busy tonight as Scotland take on Germany in the Euros. I’m going to stay out the way and chill in the hostel.
