Day 88: North Kessock to Evanton
An absolutely miserable day! I was so wet and cold that when I got to the campsite, I upgraded to a pod for the night. Now I’m nice and dry and warm!

I didn’t get a great sleep last night back in the tent, which might have had something to do with the heavy rain that continued throughout the night and into the morning.
After packing my tent down in the pouring rain, I headed off along a road into the village of Munlochy, where I bought lunch from the local shop, only to be served by the rudest shopkeeper.
I continued into the forest, which was equally damp.
I was then back along a road, where I was need of a snack, so I hid in an old phone box to get out of the rain.
I was back on the road and through another forest as the rain subsided.
Then appeared the next long bridge I needed to cross, to get back to the mainland. Here, I saw a sign which made me feel a bit weird, the end is definitely now in sight.
I crossed the bridge, not feeling completely at ease due to the fast moving traffic next to me. This didn’t get any better when the rail crossing I’d intended to use at the other side was closed, so I had to walk another mile on the grass verge of the main road.
I finally found a bridge that went under the railway, which then led to a final road into the village of Evanton, where I’d be staying the night.
On arrival at the campsite, I put myself in a pod, which was actually really cheap and very welcome.
It even had a microwave, so I went to the local Co Op and bought myself a microwave meal, before converting the lounge area into a mega bed.
Tomorrow is a long day, the final long day of the walk. Thankfully, the weather is looking a bit better.
