Day 44: Chelmorton to Edale
I’ve now arrived in Edale, the start of the Pennine Way. It’s been a very gloomy day as I’ve continued to head over the Peak District.

I drove my brother’s car back to where I left off in Chelmorton, then he drove off to work. It was a very dreary morning, a theme that continued throughout the day.
The route was a bit samey today. While there were good views, the day consisted of walking along lanes between fields, with limestone walls either side.
As I approached Edale, I passed Mam Tor, quite a famous walk in the Peak District. I intended to take a slight detour to climb it, but when I got there, I just couldn’t be bothered, so continued my descent into Edale.
It was busy around Edale with lots of hikers about. I headed to the start of the Pennine Way, and finished there for the day, as that’s where I’ll start tomorrow.
My friends Sophie, Sophie, Daniel and Tom were joining me tonight to walk the first day of the Pennine Way tomorrow. I waited in the pub for them to arrive, then we headed to the nearby YHA hostel.
Sophie had made a lamb moussaka, which we enjoyed in the hostel kitchen.
We were all pretty tired, so we chilled up in our private hostel dorm for the rest of the evening.
