Today has dragged. I’ve just walked constantly across farmland, climbing stiles and avoiding cows. The first part of the day did involve me rejoining the canal path I left yesterday, however.

I then hit the farmland, which was mostly empty, but some fields had cows in. For the first couple of cow fields, the cows didn’t seem fussed by my intrusion on their land.

I reached the village of Abbots Bromley, which was very picturesque. I had some snacks while sitting in a graveyard before heading off again.

I reached my first set of problematic cows, who I needed to walk around to get to the other side of the field. They decided to follow me quite closely until I used a new tactic to get them to move on, clapping. The cows bolted across to the other side leaving me to get on with my walking.

Almost immediately, there was another field of cows, so I employed my new defence mechanism again, which worked. I started walking along a lane down into Uttoxeter, only to find the last field full of my arch nemesis again.

I couldn’t be bothered dealing with cows again, so I decided to take a detour into Uttoxeter.

I arrived into a very quiet Uttoxeter, and then headed to my hotel for the night. I couldn’t find any campsites at all in the area, so a hotel had to do. Poor me.

I spent the evening in my hotel as I’ve got to make the most of such an expense.

A heads up. I’m told where I’m staying tomorrow doesn’t have any signal, so tomorrow’s update will probably arrive the day after.
