Day 35: Knighton Rest Day

I’ve had a relaxing day in Knighton today, my only productive task was going to the laundrette. That’s the beauty of staying in accommodation on a rest day, I can just put my feet up and rest, as intended.

  • Accommodation: The Knighton Hotel
It was somewhat surreal when I woke up this morning, as I turned on the TV in my room and there was a boy pretending to be a seagull being interviewed on the news.

I made my porridge like I do when camping, but this time with the kettle in the room. I think it would be rather unsafe to use my stove.

I saw there was a laundrette in town so checked it out, but needed to get some detergent. There’s a Co Op in town, which I’ve been to many times on the walk. They have membership prices, which I thought was a bit like the Tesco clubcard gimmick, so I bought one for a pound. It turns out this card only gives you points, and you actually need to be a member of the Co Op to get the membership prices, what a joke. I’ll be having words with my Auntie Tracey about this, who works for them. What a waste of a pound.

I begrudgingly paid full price for the detergent and headed back to the laundrette to freshen up my clothes ready for the next leg.

Back in the hotel, I started planning out my route for the next section, and sorting out where I’ll sleep.

I got a bit hungry so headed out for lunch at the local pub, enjoying some enchiladas.

I’ve been to Knighton before, and there isn’t really a lot here, so I didn’t do any exploring.

After that, I headed to the hotel and just watched TV for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow, I head north east for the next 9 days, as I walk to Edale, the start of the Pennine Way.

It’s a big day tomorrow, as I need to walk over 20 miles past Craven Arms to Church Stretton.
