Day 34: Kington to Knighton

I’ve arrived in Knighton, finished my time on the Offa’s Dyke Path, finished my time in Wales, and finished section 2 of 6. That means I’m a third of the way to John O’Groats!

  • Date: 23 April 2024
  • Start: Kington
  • End: Knighton
  • Miles: 14.6
  • Total miles: 419.1 (basically a third of the way)
  • Accommodation: The Knighton Hotel

It was a very murky start to the morning, as I climbed a hill immediately after leaving Kington.

At the top of the hill, I walked on top of Offa’s Dyke, which is basically a mound which runs from Prestatyn to Chepstow.

I then descended and crossed a river, also crossing the border, a frequent event of walking the Offa’s Dyke Path.

Then it was time to climb another hill, but a diversion was in place so I had to take a mile detour before climbing the hill.

There was one final hill to climb before I arrived in Knighton, which was a biggie.

I arrived in Knighton, which is the end of section 2 in my guide book. This means I’m now a third of the way through the entire walk.

In celebration, and because I’ve walked for the last 8 days, I checked into a hotel for the next two nights as I’m having a rest day tomorrow.
